Crochet Animal Patterns
Whether you love animals, have a favorite child that loves animal toys, or want to add to your own menagerie, we have an assortment of relatively easy amigurumi patterns. For anyone who know the basic crochet stitches and know how to increase and decrease can tackle amigurumi.
Even if you haven't mastered these skills, I've added links for you to use to master all these skills.
Amigurumi - Background
The Japanese craft of crocheting small stuffed creatures - has exploded in popularity over the past few years, with crafters worldwide falling in love with these irresistibly cute creations.
These miniature animals have taken social media by storm, flooding Instagram feeds and Pinterest boards with their charming presence. I’ll admit I was a little skeptical until I started doing some research, and now I’m hooked. (No pun intended)
The latest trends in amigurumi include realistic wildlife patterns, kawaii-style pets, and even tiny versions of endangered species.
For someone just getting started, there are many free patterns from which to choose, so there’s no need to feel obligated to create your own pattern. Naturally, you certainly can, but I recommend making a few little creatures before advancing to pattern writing.
What Skills are Needed?
Most amigurumi projects are worked in single crochet or perhaps double crochet, the skills most beginner master early on.
You will also need to know:
The most challenging part for beginners is using smaller hooks than they are accustomed to and working in continuous rounds. Keeping track of their stitch count can also be tricky.
